Friday July 31, 2015 – Last week, US President Barrack Obama was in the country and spent three days in Nairobi where he opened the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) and also held bilateral talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Obama, who was born of a Kenyan father, also met opposition leaders and civil society members, before delivering an emotional speech at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, that excited millions of Kenyans.
But despite all this, what caught the attention of many Kenyans is the relation between Barrack Obama and his Kenyan sister, Dr Auma Obama.
When Obama arrived in the country on Friday evening, he first showered his sister with love and also gave her a ride in his official limousine known as “The Beast”.
On that day, Dr Auma made history by becoming the first Kenyan to ride in “The Beast” when she accompanied her brother to Villa Rosa Kempinski from the airport.
In all the three days Obama was in Kenya, Dr Auma was accompanying him in every function.
Auma’s relationship with Obama has attracted the attention of the Jubilee Government and they want her on their side.
According to insiders, President Uhuru Kenyatta is contemplating making a mini reshuffle in Ambassadorial positions and appoint Dr Auma Obama as the new envoy of Kenya to Washington.
Uhuru and his strategists believe Auma is the best placed person to cheer-lead and quarterback Kenya’s interests in the United States.
He also believes with Dr Auma in Washington, he will have direct access to President Obama’s heart and ears and this will benefit Kenyans more.
